Sydney, March 12. There was a scene in the House of Assembly to-night. Mr McGowan, as a matter of privilege, was repudiating a Press statement that he intended to withdraw the censure motion, when Chief Secretary Wood made an interruption. Continuing the interruption, in spite of the warning of the Speaker, lie was ordered to be removed by the Sergoaut-at-Arms, who promptly carried out the order.

Sydney, March 13. Mr Wood, on being readmitted, expressed regret, and explained that the incident arose through some bodycalling him a coot, and his attempts to explain being misunderstood. The Speaker accepted the explanation.

The Censure Debate was concluded early this morning. Mr O’Sullivan’s amendment was negatived on the voices, and McGowan’s amendment defeated by 46 to 30.

Mr Oarruthers will resign his seat in Parliament, prior to his departure for Loudon, as representative at the Franco-British exhibition.
