THE POET’S CORNER.
OARPB' DIEM. There’s a merry tune in the bells today, And an nndernote of gloom ; Enjoy, be glad, it seems to say— Yonder’s the quiet tomb. Music along the vaLey floats, Melody shedding around; But come ever the dread recurring notes Like a death-knell’s warning sound. »Tis the song of man’s life, this song of the bells. Be happy, enjoy the sun— Rejoice in the day, its message tells. Soon, soon must that day be done. —Pall Mall Gazette.
