The hearing of the Blackball case has commenced. The Labour Department and the Union are both applying for the enforcement of the award, the former on account of the alleged strike and the latter on these grounds:—(l) That the Company committed a breach by wrongfully dismissing seven men without' notice; (2) That the Company dismissed seven men merelv on account of their being members of the Union; (8) That the C oin pa ny created a lock-out by wrongfully dismissing seven men. Mr Hannan opened for the prosecution, after which the mine manager gave evidence as to matters loading up to the present state of affairs.
