FIRE BRIGADES’ CONFERENCE.

Press Association. Masterton, March 11. Visiting delegates to the Fixe Brigades’ Association Conference had an excursion to Carterton and Greytown, and were hospitably entertained by both committees, and returned greatly pleased with the outir,The Conference resumed to-day. The sub-committee appointed to inquire into sundry claims reported having inquired into the cases submitted. Foreman Robbs, Hillside, was granted five years service medal and bars; Fireman Linuard’s, Dunedin, claim was not entertained; Fireman Wbyhow’s claim for a five years medal was recommended to be granted; Fireman Stanley’s, Te Aroba, claim for a five years medal was not entertained.* The application of Drivers Leckie and Piper, Dunedin City, were granted conditionally on the call showing that the attendances at musters have been in accordance with rule eleven. The recommendations were adopted and it was decided to grant a valour medal for saving life at fire to Lieut. Ashworth. Alexandra South Brigade. Gold stars for twenty-five years service were presented to B. O. Robbins, Hawera, J. A. Hayman, Kaiapoi, A. Harkness, Invercargill, and G. R. Holland, Eastown Railways. At the Fire Brigudes Conference, Foreman Wildish (Gisborne) was elected President for the ensuing year. Secretaryßoyes (Nelson) and Oapt. Lucas (Spit) were elected vico-Presidents, Superentendent J. G. Gilberd was re-elected Secretary. Oapt Spriggeus (Wanganui) Treasurer. The officers were duly installed. A certificate of iionorary membership of the Association was presented to the retiring President, Mr Hansen. As a result of voluntary subscrip tiou the funds were raised to purchase seat to be placed iu the Park at Masterton, as a memento of the Coonference being held iu the Wairarapa. The Conference has closed.
