Japan, on Thursday, reiterated her demand regarding the seizure of the steamer Tatsumaru, of Macao, and intimated that in the absence of a prompt reply she might he compelled to take action to uphold the dignity of the nation and ensure 'the safety of her people. The Government at Pekin on Friday expressed deep regret at Hie removal of the Japanese flag, and promised to punish the official implicated. The Government also offered to reply further regarding the seizure of arms and ammunition. London, March 9. The Times’ Tokio correspondent reports that the nation is greatly excited over the Tatsumaru seizure. The Japanese consignor and the Portuguese consignee strictly complied with all legal formalities. Received March 10, 8.50 a.m. Tokio, March 9. Japan is willing to consider China’s suggestions that the arms on the Tatsumaru be returned to Japan and that Japan suppress the trade in Jnnaii-ions of war with the mainland.
