STOCK REPORT. Messrs Abraham & Williams report on Friday’s Feilding sale :—We had a very heavy yarding of_ sheep, over 5000 being penned. With the exception of three lots vre quitted the ■whole of onr entry. Owing _to recent rains there was a decided improvement in all classes, and bidding under the hammer brisk. Quotations: —Sheep; 4-tooth wethers-13s 6d, 3-tooth wethers 10s lOd to 12s, fat ewes 12s Id, 12s od to 13s 7d ; 2- ewes, 12s, 13s Id, I3s Id to I3s*4d ; -4, 6 and f.f.m. owes, 12s Bd, 12s 9d to 13s 6d ; sound-mouth ewes, 6s 2d, 6s lOd, 7s 7d to 9s; cull ewes, 2s 9d, 8s 7d, 4s lid to 5s Id ; medium ewe lambs 7s 9d, cull do. 3s lOd, medium mixed lambs ss, 6s, 6s 2d to 6s 4d ; cull do., Is Sd to 3s. Cattle : 3- forward bullocks £6, empty cows 30s to 375. forward cows £3 12s 6d, late calvers £2, cull mixed weaners 6s, bulls 255, 33s 6d to 365.
Messrs Dalgety & Co. report having a very good yarding of sheep and a small entry of cattle at Feilding. Quotations ; Empty cows 16s to 375, emxjty heifers 425, woolly lambs 3s sd, os lid, 6s 2d to 7s shorn lambs 3s fid, 4s lOd to 6s, cull ewes 2s 5d to 4s, f.m. ewes as 3d, 5s sd, 6s 3d to 6s lid, s.m. ewes 10s lid, 4, 6 and f.f.m. ewes 12s od to 12s 6d. There was a good demand for all classes of young sheep in fair condition, hut backward sorts were hard to dispose of. FEILDING MARKET REPORT. Messrs A. H. Atkinson & Co., Ltd., report:—On Friday we had onr usual sale which was well attended, but the bidding for pigs was dead ; several lines having to he passed. • An average entry of poultry sold at late rates. A fair entry of produce came to hand which was well competed for. Quotations: —Pigs: "Weaners 2s to os 6d, small porkers ISs 6d, stores 20s 6d to 235, sow in pig 15s. Poultry: Hens Is, Is 4d to Is Cd ; chicks 3d to 9cl, roosters Is to Is Sd, ducks Is, Is Od, to Is lOd, all at eahe. Potatoes 15s, sacks of onions by die sack l%d per lb. HIGH COMMISSIONERS’ REPORT Wellington, March 9. The High Commissioner’s report, under date Loudon, 7th March : The mutton market is firm, and there is better enquiry this week for forward deliveries, owing to the expectation of small shipments from New Zealand. Canterbury mutton is quoted at 4,?4d, North Island 4%d, and River Plate 34^d. The lamb market is very Arm. Canterbury brands oTjdl, other than Canterbury o-^d. The butter market is firm at the decline, and the excitement has subsided. The position is quite satisfactory., and there is a good demand. " Choicest New Zealand 1225, Australian 120 s, Argentine ,120 s, and Danish 136 s per cwt. The cheese market is slightly weaker with less demand. White cheese 61s, colored 6.25, per cwt. The hemp market is very depressed on account of advices from Manila and all fibres are offering at much lower prices; good fair grade on - it £25; fair grade, £24 per ton. For March-May shipments £24 10s ho I £23 osare quoted respectively good fair and fair grade. The cocksfoot seed market is quiet at 74s per cwt.
