GRAIN REPORT. The market after going back has improved again and is now firm at quotations. , Oats. —A Gartons, 2s 5%d to 2s GUd ; B Gartons, 2s to 2s Gd; Sparrowbills, 2s to 2s 6d; Danish, 2s 5d to 2s B%d ; Duns, 2s 4d to 2s Bd. f.o.b. MAKONUI CLEARING SLAB. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Feilding, and Gorton & Sou report having held a most successful clearing sale of stock, etc., on account of Hen. J. Bryce, Makonui, Kimbolton, ■whose property and Mr Mcßeth’s Wharekoa Estate were recently sold by them at public auction. There was a large attendance of buyers, both local and outside. The recent rains experienced in the district and the excellent condition of the stock considering the dry weather, induced buyers present to bid freely and the result was that the sale exceeded expectations. A feature' of the stock was the annual draft of half bred Hereford weaners, numbering 160 bead, which sold in lots at up to 30s per head. The sale arrangements and yarding were carried out under the supervision of Mr L. E. Jackson, manager for Mr Bryce and the result and the condition of the stock reflected the greatest credit on his management. Horses: working draughts to £46, unbroken half draughts to £2B. STOCK REPORT. Messrs Abraham & Williams report: —At our Palmerston sale on Thursday, a good yarding of sheep came forward. Competition was brisk for most lines, and prices were better all round, lambs particularly taking a decided rise. Good wethers and sound breeding ewes were eagerly sought after. Cattle were in short supply, and all lots were cleared at satisfactory prices. Quotations: — Forward wethers 13s to 14s 4d, 2-th ewes 13s 4d to 13s 6d. 2-tooth to f f.m. ewes 11s 2d to 12s 3d, f.m. ewes 6s Id to 8s Bel, cull ewes 2s 6d to ss, good lambs 7s 3d to 8s Id, other lambs 4s 7d to 5s 6d, 2-tooth Lincoln rams to Bgs, 3-year steers £4 7s 6d, fat cows £4 16s, forward cows £3 13s to £3 Ga, forward heifers £2 3s 6d to £2 7s 6d, 10-months steers £2 os weaners los, small Weaners 4s Gd, store cows SOs to 38s. Loan & Mercantile Agency, report: —At Palmerston we had a good yarding of sheep and a medium entry of cattle. Buyers were present and a good demand existed, with the result that there was a good rise for good-conditioned young ewes. We quote:—Gull ewes 2s to os 7d, 2tooth ewes 14s 6u to 14s 7d. Cattle steers £2 7s 6d, cull yearlings 13s. ___________
