Press Association. Taihape, March 5. The drought has entirely broken up in this district, heavy rain falling throughout last night and this morning. The fires which showed signs of reviving hero and in the Waimarino were soon effectively quenched. Timaru, March 5. Rain which set in on Monday morning still continues. Up to 9 this morning the total fall was 8.55 inches. Masterton, March 5. Rain still is holding off, but the sky remains vercast and the temperature low. Showers fell at Opaki and To Oreore this morning, but none in Masterton. Nelson, March 5. Further general rain has fallen and the drought has broken up. Streams are running again and winter feed is assured of good growth.
