■ 1 —■ Messrs A. H. * Atkinson & Op., Feilding, report:'—On Friday we held our usual sale and it was well attended. We offered a large -entry of pigs, poultry, produce and usual sundries. R| Bidding for pigs was not brisk and small pigs were in poor demand. The poultry was well competed for and good value was made for killing birds. The demand for tomatoes and fruit exceeded the supply. Quotations :—Pigs, weaners 3s to Bs, small stores, 11s 6d to 41s (id. Poultry, chicks 7d, hens Is 4d to Is lOd, roosters Is 4d to Is Gd, ducks Is 4d to 2s, all at each. Furniture etc. Green tomatoes 3s _ per case, ripe Ss large box about Bolbs. Apples cooking 3s per case, and eating 6s. HIGH COMMISSIONERS’ REPORT. Press Association. Wellington, March 2. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner, dated London, 39th February :—■ There has been a better tone in the mutton market this week, hut no change in prices. The lamb market is'firm and there is a scarcity of prime quality of Canterbury lamb which is quoted at 5%d, and otlier than Canterbury at s>(d. The beef market is firm. Hindquarters are quoted at 3%d, forequarters 2%d. The butter market has broken down and is very unsettled, mand having considerably fallen off. Choicest New Zealand is quoted at 120 s, Australian 116 s, Danish 125, Siberian 116 s. The is 'firm. White makes are quoted at 635, coloured 635. The hemp market is lifeless, being greatly affected by reports of large shipments from Manila. There are no transactions of importance. Following are current quotations for all positions:—Good fair grade £26, fair rgade £25, fair current Manila £25. The cocksfoot seed market is quiet and there is no change in prices to report.
