THE VINEGAR HILL CROSSNIG.

A SUGGESTION. Slß—Tour Hunterville correspondent in his notes makes reference to the accident to Mr McLean at the Vinegar Hill crossing, and suggests placing a signalman at that spot. I have a suggestion to make. I happened to he in Hunterville that day, and saw McLean carried into the hotel on a stretcher, and I afterwards passed over the crossing and saw the fragments of the gig and harness. The suggestion I have to make is that the crossing should he shifted a few chains further north, so as to place it about the centre of the flat space available. It would then give travellers a fair chance of seeing approachiug trains, and the annual cost would he much less than that of a signalman, whom I am afraid there is little hope of obtaining.—lam, etc., TRAVELLER.
