Wishing to show the solidarity of German and Austrian interests and to prove that the Novifbazar railway scheme does not interfere with reforms Germany hasj, induced the Sultan to agree to the removal of the mandates of officials in Macedonia, but owing to the divergencies of ambassadors with regard to details of reform the Saltan rejects these, hoping to procrastinate. Newspapers show that the renewal of the mandates merely prolongs the unsatisfactory situation.
