MASTERTON RAM FAIR.
Per Press. Association. Mssterton, February 20. "In Lincolns E. J, Biddiford topped the -market with sixty guineas, paid by H. B. Eglington for a Romney7ram, sad for four stud Romneys Mr Biddiford secured the handsome return of £165. The top price in stud Lincolns was guineas. Only a few Southdowna were offered, fifteen guineas being the top price. Clothe 14 Shropshire studs submitted only five were [sold, the prices ranging from three' guineas to five and a half. It was apparent at the ontset that the drought would be responsible for “canny” purchasing, for unless the sheep were in tip-top condition they were not looked at by buyers. Poor ewes were to be seen in tbe stud sheep, which caused, comment to the effect that a higher fee. should be charged .for studs to prevent the entering of inferior sheep. Vendors willingly pay the 3s 6d fee for the sake of having their sheep submitted at midday.
