At the Addington live stock market. to-day there were very large yardings of sheep, and good entries in other departments. The attendance was also large. Fat cattle were dull of sale at late rates. Well finished fat lambs were firm, and store sheep, especially lambs and wethers, were easier. Pigs were only vin limited demand at late rates. The yarding of store sheep was a heavy one, and, though there was a large attendance of buyers, the continued dry weather affected the demand, and wethers and lambs were down about Is per head. Good young ewes maintained their values fairly well. The entry of fat lambs was one of the largest seen in the yards, and, only natural under the present conditions, the bulk of them were not more than half or three parts fat. There was a good demand for all lots fit for freezing, the {'well-finished lambs selling very firmly, though there was little or no change in T&lU6B» * Tegs made 15s 3d to 17s 2d, ordinary weights, 13s to 15s; lighter, 10s 6d to 12s 6d; rape-fed lambs, 8s to A’ , There was an average yarding or lat sheep. ~ , The supply of beef totalled 290 head, and only a few consignments were really prime. There was a slack demand, as there is no feed in the holding paddocks, and in the absence of cool chambers only short supplies of beef can be kept on hand. Prices were about on a par with the previous week’s sale. The range of prices was: —Steers, £6 10s to £lO 17s; heifers. £4 5s to £7; and cows, £3 15s to £6 17s 6d—equal to 20s to 23s 6d for prime, 17s to 19s 6d for medium, and 14s to 16s 6d for cows and inferior, per 1001 b. Yeal calves sold at 5s to 50s, according to size and quality. There was a moderate yarding of pigs, and the demand was not so keen as of late, though prices remained about the same.
