Pearson has withdrawn his arrangements made with The Times, but is still negotiating the original proposal re a contemplated company with a capital of £850,000 owing and controlling the Times, Standard, St. James’ Gazette, [and Daily Express, and states that Mr Pearson will be the manager of the company at £IO,OOO a year [for 20 years. Mr Arthur Walter will be chairman at £IOOO a year. The Daily Graphic states that Moberley Bell, on behalf of an American syndicate, including Hooper and Jackson, of The Times book club, are outbidding Mr Pearson.
