LETTERS TO THE EDITOR.
FAIR PLAY IS BONNY PLAY. Slß,—The action’of the Mayor of Marton must be considered tube very inconsistent, as a threatening notice has appeared in the newspaper warning people against using the water -from the Reservoir in gardens; and yet while the notice has been in existence the caretaker of the Marton Bowling Green has been instructed to still continue to use the water on the bowling green as heretofore, and take no notice of the advertisement. Now, Sir, as a member of tbe Marton Bowling Club and one who derives great pleasure from a game of bowls, of course, would be very glad for the green to have the benefit of the water upon it, but at the same time it does not seem just or reasonable for the Mayor; to assist the members of the club to have such a pleasure as the green being kept in good order by the free use of the water, while such a great number of people are not allowed to refresh a cucumber bed. under a threat of prosecution for doing it.—l am etc., ° r T C TROTT. Marton, February'l4th, 1908.
