MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.
A portion of our report of Wednesday’s meeting went astray, but [ has since come to hand. In the list of members present, “Cr. Matthews” should have read ‘‘Or. Masters.” “ A letter was read from Treasury, notifying that loan of £IOO for protective work on McDouell’s line was available. From G. D. Eraik, superintendent of technical schools, with copy of regulations for election of committee.—Cr. Matthews was appointed the Council’s representative on the Technical School Committee. From C. E. Vile, notifying Council that lie would hold them responsible for any damage caused by fire to his property started by the tram engine. Fires had been started by the engine, but fortunately extinguished just in time. —Directions to be given to use every care. From D. Scott, Taihape, offering to sell 215 sleepers. The tramway overseer’s report stated that the traffic, both in goods and passengers, during the month had been exceptionally large. The sum of £79 14s 3d had been received in fares; 595 bales of wool had been carried as compared to 456 during January last year; tons of grass seed had been carried, an incx'ease of 82 tons for similar period last year ; 23,900 feet of timber and 340 yards of metal and clay had been hauled. It was resolved to remit the rates due by -Mrs R. Stokes for the present year.
