MISSING PRINCESS.
BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN HANGED. The St." Petersburg newspapers print strange rumours, telephoned irom Moscow, concerning the identity of the woman who was hanged a few days ago for throwing a bomb which exploded beneath -the Carriage of the Governor of Moscow, General Herschelman, without injuring him. She herself, however, was severely wounded. Shortly before December 4th, the date of the attempted assassination, the Princess Meshtshirski, the wife of a scion of an ancient and noble house, now a poor student at Riga, whom she had left to settle in St. Petersburg, suddenly disappeared from her home. All the investigations by her friends and by the police proved fruitless. It was known that her marriage was an unhappy one, the Princess having declared that the Prince was an impos] sible husband, and some believed that she had committed suicide or eloped, while others adopted the common supposition that she had sought refuge in a monastery. The Moscow reports now give a number of facts which establish a strong reason to believe that the hanged bomb-thrower and the Princess were identical.
