The coffins were afterwards laid on inclined planes in the Chapel, and the bodies were seen through glass lids. King Carlos’ face had scarcely changed, but that of Prince Luiz was disfigured, and was covered with a flag. Received February 10, 8.25 a.m. Lisbon, February 9. A most affecting scene took place on. the steps of the Palace, when King Manuel and the two Queens took leave of the remains. They did not attend the funeral. King Carlos and the Crown Prince were then removed to the Cathedral Sao Vicent. The street was crowded with mourners with bared heads. The British and Spanish cruisers responded with salutes as the bodies were being carried to the church; The coffins were let lie daring the,, night in .Catafalque, in the magnificently decorated interior. London, February 9. King Edward and Queen Alexandra, with a cavalry escort, attended Requiam Mass at St. James’ Onuroh. The Prince and Princess of Wales, Ambassadors, Ministers, present Sovereigns, without their escort, with Royalties, the Lord Mayor, sheriffs, Cabinet Ministers, and Diplomatists,- attended St. Paul’s. The Rev. Thomas Davidson, Archbishop of Canterbury, participated in an impressive service. There was an enormous crowd of officers of the British Squadron. Prince Arthur of Connaught represented Britain at the service at Sao "Vicente, and Prince Eitel represented the Kaiser. Prince Eitel will spend a few days in Paris before returning home.
