Catpaia Dykes, chief offiecr of the Tutanekai, has been appointed examiner of master and mates and surveyor of ships at Auckland. It is understood that the Hon. McGowan will retain Minisetiral contorl of the Roads and ’Bridges Department, which he took over when the Hon. Mr Hall-Jones left for England. A telegram from Mangaweka states that a young man named W. Bailey was drowned there this morning while bathing. The body was recovered after many attempts by the Rev.
