HUNTERVILLE MOUNTED RIFLES.
MILITARY SPORTS. The sports in connection with the Hunterville Mounted Rifles took place at the camp grounds, Porewa, yesterday afternoon. There was a fair number of people present, and the sports were well contested. Results : Lloyd-Lindsay Competition.—Sgt. Morrison’s section, 35 points, 1; Private Hurley’s section, 84 points, 2; Sergt. Weston, 31 points, 3. Wrestling on Horseback.—Privates P. Munro, J. Munro, A. Munro, and A. Henderson tied with Privates A. Coleman, R. Thurgoi, B. Carter, and J. Hartley. Both sections divided the prize money. Cutting Turk’s Head.—Sgt. F. Wilson 1, Private A. Munro 2. Obstacle Race.—Prvt. S. Peed Y, Sgt. F. Wilson 2. Rescue Race.—Sgt. Morrison and Prvt. Hurley 1, Prvts. J. Hartley and B. Carter 2. Tent Pegging.—Privates Hurley and J. Munro divided the prize money. Tug of War on Horseback. —Privates Hurley,. Mosen, Ranapia, and Karaitiana 1, Sgt. Weston, Privates Laird and Weston, and Bugler Howie 2.
