FIRE AT APITI.

The bush and grass fires have resulted in the destruction of Banks’ sawmill and Mr George“ Kidd’s house and woolshed at lUmutoi. Reports received state that Messrs MoMurtrie, Pettigrew and also very heavy losers. Not only have large areas of grass been destroyed, but also stock, and it is feared outbuildings. Tiie settlers are having a very anxious time fighting the flames day and night. Our correspondent telephones today that Messrs Jarvis and grew’s placesfwere burnt. Also that the township is not in da®ger, as was reported last night.
