WAITUNA WEST.

From Our Own Correspondent. The weather here continues very dry and water carting is general. We have had no fires as yet in our district. The want of rain is being very badly felt here. Our sawmill is just about got to working order and a day or two now will see the timber being stacked up. We are sorry to hear Mr E, Shannon is unable to get about much yet, one of his horses liaviug bolted with him in the milk brake and rather badly bruised him, but he better than"he was. Our school committee held a meeting on Thursday, last when it was decided to hold a concert at an early date, also a picnic on the 14th February in Mr W. Shannon’s paddock. I think our local sports here have about fallen through as I have not heard a word about them. Rewa is holding sports this year, I think, instead. *
