MR MORLEY ON INDIA.

Press Association. —Copyright. Received Feb. 3, 1 a.m. London, Feb. 3. Doctor Rutherford, in the House, moved that the present condition of India demanded the Government’s serious attention; their proposals were inadequate to allay discontent, and comprehensive Reforms were required. Mr John Morley, Secretary of State for India, ridiculed such a confident judgment after six weeks’ tour in India. India’s condition showed enormous and extraordinary improvement since the Government, entered office. The amendment was withdrawn. The newspapers commend Mr Morley’s broad and sympathetic policy.
