ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

Per Press Association. Lyttelton, January 23. Hector Methven, of Terrace, an ex-bank official, jumped overboard from the Monowai at 3.10 this morning on the way from Wellington. A steward gave him a drink of water and then saw him hanging outside of the bulwarks and reached to secure him, but Methven disappeared in the sea. A search was made but the body was not found. Methven had been suffering and in ill-bealtlr for some time and was going south by orders.
