CASTLE SUICIDE.
GUEST GUTS HIS THROAT IN A GAB. A suicide of a remarkable character took place recently near Rothesay, in the Isle of Bute, where an elderly man named Mr Albert Green, who had been staying as a guest at Karnes Oastle, cut his throat in a cab at the castle gates.. Mr Green left- the castle one morning and travelled by the early Caledonian steamer to Rothesay. There he hired a cab to take him back to the castle. While proceeding along the “front” he stopped the cab and went out to look for something he said he had dropped. He failed to find it, and on returning to the cab he informed the cabman that he had found the missing article on the floor of the cab. In the light of subsequent events it is surmised that a razor formed the subject of his quest. When Karnes Castle was reached tne cabman whistled for the gatekeeper to open the gates, and almost immediately after heard a mulued “Oh, oh,” proceed from the interior of the cab. On jumping down he found Mr Green’s head hanging forward and. his hands covered with blood. The police and a medical gentleman were soon on the spot, but the unfortunate man only lived for about two minutes. He had inflicted-a deep cut with a razor, the windpipe and main arteries being severed. The body was removed to the North Bute mortuary. A mystery is attached to Mr Green’s return to Karnes Oastle, for on setting out from it he was fully equipped for the journey with travelling bag and rugs.
