THE DRUCE CASE.

Press Association—Copyright. London, Dec, 28.

Mr Statham, Hollamby Druce’s counsel, stated before Chancellor Tristram that the opening of the vault was absolutely immaterial. The main issue in Druce’s action against Howard De Walden, which did not turn on the question of the mock burial, was the fact whether the fifth Duke married Elizabeth Oricker, and whether the marriage was valid, both being under age. Hollamby claimed to be descended fromthat marri age, but whether the Duke of Portland was subsequently guilty of eccentricities, and indulged in a mock funeral, did not affect the question. Hollamby, through Mr Oockburn, his solicitor, said he would like to be present at the opening of the vault, though he would be represented by a medical man and a surveyor. Herbert Druce would be similarly represented. Chancellor Tristram said he thought Hollamby’s presence was unnecessary, since he would be represented. . ~ The Daily Mail states that the opening of Druce’s grave takes place on Monday.
