SHUFFLING OF RAILWAY ENGINEERS.

Per Press Association. Auckland, Dec. 27. Consequent upon the retirement of the Chief Engineer of the Railway, Sir Joseph Ward has announced the following changes :—J. Burnett, Inspector Engineer, to be Chief Engineer ; F. McLean, District Engineer, Dunedin, to be Inspecting Engineer, Wellington; H. Macandrew, District Engineer, Christchurch, transferred to Dunedin ; O. Biss, District Engineer, Wanganui, transferred to Christchurch; F. J. Jones, District Engineer, Wellington, transfer?ed to Wanganui; F. E. Widdop, District Engineer Greymouth, transferred to Wellington; O. M. Benzoui, Asst. Engineer, Wellington, transferred to Greymouth. Mr Coom will be on leave from January 1 to March 31, and on the latter date the appointments take effect. Mr Burnett will be Acting Chief meanwhile.
