From Our Own Correspondent. Through the courtesy of the contractor the school children were enabled to give their annual concert in the new town hall As usual the audience were treated with a pleasing aud well rendered programme, which was Muly appreciated. Following is a list of the items:—Pianoforte duet, Phemie Gibson and M«ud Miller; song, “Robinson Crusoe,” juniors; dialogue, “Farmer Boy aud City Dude,” Sidney Gould and Robert Osborne ; song, ‘ ‘ Buy a Broom,” senior girls; doll drill, junior girls; recitation, “When I am a Man,” junior boys; dialogue, ‘ ‘ The Irish Schoolmaster ; recitation, “Santa Claus aud tne Mouse” ; Fan march and Drill, senior girls; recitation, “The New Bonnet,” Louise Obeli; dumb-bell drill, junior boys; song “The Mail Cart,” junior boys and girls; recitation, “Seeing Things,” Roy Bennett; duet, J. aud M. Cummerfield ; waiter drill, junior girls; dialogue, “Mr and Mrs Santa Claus, ’ ’ Inewa Olsen and Cyril Buckman ; recitation, “When Pa begins to Shave,” Alick Caldwell; song “Beautiful Belles aud Dudes,” girls and boys ; scarf drill, senior girls; ‘ ‘ Country Meeting Talk, ’ ’ girls and boys; flower march, junior girls; recitation “The Two Kittens,” junior girl; maypole dance, senior girls. Prizes were then distributed aud a vote of thanks passed to all concerned. During the evening Mr Hugh Osborne, chairman of the school committee, referred with regret to the departure of Miss Buchanan, who is leaving for Mangaweka. He alluded in praiseworthy terms to the splendid reports given of her work by the inspectors, and as a token of appreciation in which she is held, presented her on behalf of the parents and children with a gold bracelet set with rubies and pearls. Mr J. Matthews also spoke in eulogistic terms of the valuable assistance Miss Buchanan had given in the school aud to her untiring energy in promoting the welfare of the children. In spite of the rough state the roads are in, bicycle races held were on Saturday, and caused a great deal of excitement and amusement. Results ; One Mile Handicap : B, Moriue 1, 0. Stockley 3, E.
