RONGOTEA SCHOOL.
The distribution of the Rongotea school prizes took place on Friday afternoon. The presentation was made by Mr Penney (chairman) and Rev. F. Wilson. The following ■received prizes:— Standard VII. —Hilda Thompson. Standard Vl.—Aileen Bowater, Emma Darragh, Elsie Dear, Clarence Tobeck, Neil Hunt. Standard Y.—Edith Lasenby, Leila Hunt, Violet Elu-horn, Hildred Bowater, Hilda Foster, Walter Vallender, Percy Hunt, Albert Bottoher.
Standard IV. —Ethel Wheeler, Florence Vallender, Evelyn Tobeck, Emma Simonsen, Kate Persson, Etta Persson, Gertie Dear, Alma Lukashefski, Myrtle Glover, Bertha Beattie, Florence Baylis, Sidney Wood, Frank Purcell, Alfred Philps, Bettie. Hobbs.

Standard I. —Katie Walsh, Susie Vallender, Gladys Turner, ‘ Irene Gibbs, Maida Cave, Nellie Blackler, Carl Wright, Spencer Tobeck, Olaf Stendahl, Alfred Persson, Lewis Hunt.
Each child in the infant department was the recipient of a prize._ The following were presented with special prizes :—Best scholar in Standard 1., Katie Walsh; highest marks in Standacrd 1., at periodical examination, Spencer Toheck and Olaf Stendahl. Attendance prizes.— First grade, Hilda Foster, Aileen Bowater, Hildred Bowater, Alfred Perssou; second grade, Spencer To beck.
Hilda Spencer was presented with a medal, suitably inscribed, given by head teacher, testifying that she had not missed a single half-day attendance for five years. The prize presented by Mr Foster for dux of school was won by Aileen Bowater. Addresses were given by Rev. F. Wilson, Mr Penney, and _Mr Bowater, Hearty cheers were given for the teachers and for those who had won special prizes. The chairman thanked the teachers, on behalf of the committee, for.;the very good results of the examination and for the efficient manner in which the school is conducted. He also referred to the fine appearance of the school gardens. A very enjoyable afternoon was brought to a close by three cheers for the ladies who were present.
