MANAWATU R.C. MEETING. SECOND-DAY’S ACCEPTANCES. The following acceptances have been received for the second day of the Manawatu R.C. Summer Meeting on Boxing

RANGITIKEI R.O. SUMMER MEETING. * , The following aie the weights for the Maiden Race, to he run on New Year’s Day at the Rangitikei Racing Club’s Summer Meeting : MAIDEN HACK FLAT RACE, 5 furlongs.

The Southland Racing Club has decided that bookmakers be licensed at a fee of £l2 10s per day, and allowed to bet on any part of the saddling paddock, or outside the enclosures, but no bookmaker or clerk be allowed on grandstand or lawn. Bookmakers are allowed one clerk each, provided the clerk is not a bookmaker himself, the clerk not to call the odds.

The first annual sale of thoroughbred yearlings of the Manawatu Stud Co. was held yesterday at Palmerston. Five yearlings sold for 875 guineas, an average of 175. The highest price was 500 guineas for a handsome colt by Multiform—Rumour, purchased by A. Shearsby on behalf of “Mr Highden. ” A Soult —Cecile filly realised 280 guineas, at which price it fell to the bid of F. S. Easton, of Foxtou. All yearlings offered on behalf of the Company were sold. A filly by Kilcherau (imported)—Purity, offered on account of G- Baldwin, was sold to G. A, Tattle, Palmerston, for 80 guineas. A filly by Soult—Santa Katerina and a colt by Captain Webb —Marvellous, offered .on separate account, were passed at 90 and 110 guineas respectively.
