A coaching accident on the Waimato road last evening resulted, in Bissett’s coach being smashed to pieces. The horses bolted at the Devil’s Bibow, andthe coach colliclodwtib the bank. "'The occupants were all thrown out, and the coach smashed. John Ferry, sheep fanner, one of the passengers, sustained three broken ribs, and his face cut about. Others were seriously shaken, Haro Mateuga was brought up at Gisborne on three charges to-day, including the original case of horsestealing "five years’ ago, in consequence of which lie cleared to the bash. Ho was remanded till toexpressed a desire to have the cases hoard together and said lie was prepared to make a statement when the proper time came. A private cable states that at the general meeting on January 7th the directors of the New Zealand and River Plato Company will recommend a dividend of 7 per cent for the year, the interim dividend to be deducted therefrom. The approximate amount of net profit is £39,2(59 of which the dividend will absorb £21,000, leaving £14,000 to bo paid to reserve, and £-12(59 carried forward. The directors also recommend that £IO,OOO bo carried to reserve in consequence of the revaluation of the New Zealand assets. The total reserve will then be £252,000.
