PROFITABLE LIFE INSURANCE.

At the annual meeting of the National Mutual Life Association, the chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, •stated that the new business •amounted to over three million sterling, and for the first time in the history of the Association, the interest rate reached £4 l@s«6d per cent., or deducting taxes, £4 13s 2d «a the mean funds. Mortality was unusually favorable, and a considerable purchase of Government .-securities at favorable prices had been effecte d. The funds and income had nearly doubled in the last ten years. The report was adopted.
