YESTERDAYS’ PALMERSTON SALES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report as follows: —We had a good yarding of cattle, inclnding several pens of good quality steers and bullocks. A keen demand existed all round and we were enabled to clear the whole yarding with the exception of one pen at very satisfactory prices, bidding being brisk throughout. Quotations: Yearling heifers 80s to 83s, 15-month heifers 245, 2>£year heifers £3 10s to £3 13s, yearling steers £2 lid to £2 17s Bd, 2year steers £3 8s 6d to £3 12s 6d, 3% to 3-year steers £4 7s 6d to £4 13s 6d, 3-year steers £4 16s to £5 13s, forward bullocks £6, store cows 39s to 335, forward cows £2 9s 6d to £3 65, : fat cows £3 12s to £4 15s, cows and calves £3 10s, cows in calf £2 17s 6d. _ Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report on their Palmerston sale.—There was a small entry of sheep and a good entry of cattle. The competition was keen at the following prices : 29 bullocks £6 4s, 33 bullocks £5 14s, 43 bullocks £5 13s, 30 bullocks £5 17s 6d, 17 bullocks £5 13s 6d, 19 bullocks £5 6s 6d, store cows £2, smaller lots to £5 15s, 2year steers £3 17s, 2 to £3 17s 6d, £4 7s 6d. Fat cows £4 2s, £4 7s, £4 17s. Yearling heifers 29s 6d, 15-18-months 34s 6d, springing £3 18s 6d. Springing cows £3 6s, cows and calves £3. Messrs Abraham and Williams report that at their sale a good demand existed for all classes of cattle and a heavy yarding was cleared at satisfactory prices. An average yarding of sheep came forward, but the demand was not brisk. Quotations: Fat bullocks £7 10s to £B, forward bullocks £5 8s 6d. Fat cows £3 15s to £4 3s, and 'S-year steers £4 ss, 3- steers £4 11s to £4 16s, 3-year steers £3 13s to £3 16s 6d, 18-months and 3-year steers £3 Is to £3 4s 6d, yearling to 18-months steers £2 15s to £3, 2-year heifers £2 5s to £3 13 s, 18-months grade Jersey heifers £2 8s 6d 15-months heifers 33s 6d, forward cows £2 to £2 16s, store cows £1 to 355, springing heifers £3 10s to £5 10s, fat ewes 12s lid to 13s lid, hoggets 17s, fat lambs 14s. STOCK REPORT. Messrs Dalgety & Co., Ltd.. report: —At Wanganui on 18th inst we yarded 3700 sheep and 700 head of cattle. Competition was very slack for sheep but the bulk of the entry was cleared at prices showing a decline on last rates. There was a fair demand for cattle, most of the yarding being sold. Quotations:— Sheep: Fat ewes 13s 7d, shorn Smooth ewes 14s 6d to 15s, shorn 2-tooth wethers 13s, 4-tooth to f.m. ewes 31s to 14s, 4- to f.m. wethers 31s 6d, mixed culls 7s. Cattle: 2to 3-year steers £8 to £4 15s, light fat cows £3 16s to £3 17 s Gd, good store cows £2 15s to £2 17s, others £1 10s 6d to J£3 ss, empty 2-year heifers £3 3s to £2 7s 6d yearling heifers 26s to 38s, mixed yearlings 36s to 37s 6d, balls 30s /; to 40s. 1 {[Messrs Abraham & Williams, Ltd., report as follows:—At Marton on Tuesday we had a full of cjttle, which sold at prices satisfactory to vendors. A good yarding of sheep, but probably owiug to dry -weather there was not keen inquiry. We quote :—Sheep ; Ewes aud lambs, eo od lambs, 19s 9d, 35s 9d, poor hoggets 13s 6d, fat ewes 14s 9cl. Cattle; Fat cows £3 Is, £45 15s, fat and forward bullocks £6 13s, yearling heifers 255, 15 to 18-months heifers gtfs' empty cows £2 to £2 12s, 15 to 18-months steers £3 8s 6d, 2-year steers £3 Is to £3 9s. Pigs: Weaners 8s to 12s. At Taibape on Wednesday a full yarding of cattle, but few sheen came forward. Sheep: Aged ew es aud lambs 17s 7d, 2-tooth wethers 13s 2d. On’ Thursday we held a clearing sale of dairy stock, etc., for Mr O. F. McCartney on the farm at Ruahine. Owing to lateness of the season there was not, good inquiry for cows. A clearance was made at prices in favor of buyers. The milking machines and farm were not disposed of and are for private sale. GRAIN AND SEED. Dunedin, Last Night. _ The first wool sale of the Dunedin reason was held to-day, when 4686 balls were offered. The range of prices realised was -.-Super half-bred lid to to good to interior <d to B>£d, super, cross-bred lOd to- ll%d, good Sd to 5S medium 6%d to 7%d, inferior s§d to super, long wool to 10d best merino up to \\%y, me dium to good 9d to interior 7Kd to S%Q.
