A mooting of tho executive of the Flaxmillors’ Association was hold iu tho oflico of 'the secretary, Mr Bagnall, yesterday afternoon, Mr A. Seifort presiding. Notice was received from tho Department of Agriculture of a new regulation providing for tho use of another *sort of tag different to the ono alreday ordered by a large number of millers. The regulations have added considerably to the cost of production and this extra expense was very strongly objected to botli on account of its cost and because many iiave bought tho tag provided for in the regulations issued a short time ago. Millers expressed themselves strongly about tho letter which appeared in the New Zealand Times of the Oth inst. re flax grading. It was decided to send two delegates to Wellington to inspect the hemp passing through the grading sheds. A letter -was received from the Department of Industries and Commerce stating that, should the association decide to make an exhibit of flax at the Frauco-British Exhibition, the Government would pay the cost of carriage to London, would provide free floor space, and would dispose of the goods at the close of tho exhibition free of cost. It was sgngcstcd that two lots "Superior” to "Fair” would make a good display. It was decided to make a display, and Messrs A. Seifert (president), Liggius, Brown and Cohen were ap pointed a sub-committee to collect material“and forward to the Department iu Wellington. The Association lias been informed that the exhibit must bo ready by the end of February. A letter was received from the Premier iu response to an enquiry re tho Agricultural Labourers’ Accommodation Bill as to whether the provisions would include flax hands, and thus prohibit tho use of touts for accommodation. The letter stated that it did not. Tho New Zealand Flaxmillers’ Association, which was awarded a silver medal at the recent Christchurch Exhibition has received intimation that it may have the medal on paying tho cost of manufacture.
