SLUGGISH RIVER DRAINAGE BOARD.

The adjourned general meeting of tlie above Board was hold yesterday morning. There wore present Messrs G. Kendall (chairuiau), J. Tennant, A. B. Hocking, B. Gray, and G. Wilton. A summons has been issued upon the Board for a claim to the amount of £23 b 3? L. Greenaway. It was decided to defend the action. The amalgamation question held oyer from the previous meeting was discussed, and it was decided to obtain the opniiou of the Board’s solicitor on the matter. Two letters were received from the Feildiug Borough Council about the proposed conference of local bodies ro river erosion. Messrs Kendall and Gray were deputed to attend the conference which is to be hold on January 15th. A letter was received from Mr Stevens. M.P., in reference to grant in aid of the protection of Government lands and offering his support and assistance. Consideration of tiio matter was deferred.
