UPPER WANGAEHU ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the above was held on Friday afternoon. Present: Messrs R. Lilburn (chairman), J. Brcmucr, H. Wilson, H. Collier, and E. Whiteman. An apology was received from Mr W. Williams. The Foreman in his report, advised that two culverts be put in the road near the Waiuui junction; that the
grader had worked from Mataroa to and was now workiug at the upper end of the Turakina Valley road ; that part of Hales’ road had been widened and would bo finished through to Bald Hill in another fortnight; that it would take another mouth to complete the opening of the Greek road ; that a small bridge near Morgan’s yard was completely rotten and required rebuild-
mg. i Correspondence from the following was received :—J. Kennedy, re the bridge over the Makimtu stream. It was resolved that J. McCarthy do the necessary work of repairing bridge and approaches, and that Mr Kennedy be asked to supervise the work.
From the Treasury, stating that the application for the proposed now loan for metalling the road from Mataroa to the Turakina River could not be at present submitted for approval. ' From J. Cleaver, requesting that the thirds accruing from Inspection lo spent on the Waiparuparu.— Revived, that the same bo put on the {schedule for expenditure, i From the Raugitikei County and flie Commissioner of Crown Lands, IB the matter of thirds accruing from Hr Jacobsen’s property. —Resolved, that it be put on the schedule for expenditure by the Raugitikei County Council. From B. J. McDonald, re a new bridge on the Turakina Valley road, i—Mr Bradley waited on the Board :n regard to the same matter. —Nothing was decided. 1 The clerk reported that the contiact for the extension of the Turnkma Valley road bad been let to T. James.
Resolved, that if the Government vrill supply new cables for suspension bridges, the Board will have them ATixod.
JTotice of motion was given that all gates on the 'main road bo removed.
Tlio Bank book showed the following balances: —General account, debit £IOO7 lOs Jd; Rangiwahia loan account, credit £OO4 8s 7d. Accounts amounting to £B4O 4s (id were passed for payment.
