The trade newspaper, the Ironmonger, states that tiio United States Steel Trust has presented an ultimatum to the Welsh tinplate manufacturers that they must either buy 3000 tons of steel bars monthly or be smashed. The manufacturers refused to comply witii the demand. The Daily Chronicle says that if there is any reality in the threat the British Government should take action.
Received Dec. 10, 8.47 a.m. New York, December 9. The steel trust has dismissed 50,000 hands since the panic.
