A. deputation representative of the whole interests of Lithgow and district interviewed the Premier to ask the Government to use its efforts iu evolving a scheme to prevent the closing of the ironworks. The deputation urged the importance of conserving a national industry,'’and the disaster threatening the district aud a large body of workers. Mr Wade, in reply, said Jvo realised the serious effect upon the State that the closing of the works would have. The Goverumeut was fully iu sympathy with the deputation, but it required time and anxious thought to see a way out of the. wood. Ho imped that in a few days something would bo evolved to save the industry aud place it ou a lasting footing.
