He was bred by Mr Ruddock, of Canterbury.. His sire Lord Roberts' sire Lord Lion, winner of twelve firsts and twelve champion prizes. His grand sire, Lord Salisbury (1205), imported, winner of first prize at Ayr, 1576, as a two-year-old, first prize at Kilmarnock, 1877, and champion med<il for best horse in the yard. In the same year he won first prize at Dairy, first at Ayr, first at Glasgow, and first at the Highland Society's Show at Edinburgh. After coming to New Zealand, Lord Sr "-' won a large number of prizes. He was Dunedin in 188', first and champion at Thiol, 1883, first and champion at Dunedin and Taeii 1884, and first and champion at Dunedin i" i and 1880. Lord Lion's dam, Myrtle, by Prince of . (imported), grand dam Molly McKissoclc, wi ported by the late Mr McAllum, her sire Lion (480 GC. 5.8.) Molly McKissock took first prize at Ayr and Dumfries in 1897.
