OROUA V. PAPAIOEA.
The Oroua tennis cou»ts bore a very gay appearance on Saturday af tornooii last when tho members of the Papaioea Tenuis Club, Palmerstou, visited this towu and tried conclusions with our local champions. Tho courts wore iu excellent condition and some real good play was put in by both clubs. The lady members of the Oroua club provided afternoou tea, and tho vice-presi-dent, Mr Pirani, at tho conclusion of tho games thanked tho visitors for their attendance. Cheers were given for the visiting team, and Mr Graham, on behalf of tho Papaioea, returned thanks. Play concluded about 0.30. Feilding won by 10 sots to 1 and '.15 gaims to 49. The following are the scores:— Ladies' Doubles.—Miss M. Gould and Bray boat Miss Stace and Kerslako 9—l.
Ladies' Singles.—Miss Bray beat Miss Staco 9—2; Miss Gould beat Miss Kerslake 9 —6.
Mixed Doubles.—Miss Bray and H. B. Strajigo beat Miss Kerslake aud D. Graham 9—4; Miss M. Gould and G. Gould beat Miss Staco and Drew 9—5. Gents' Singles.—H. B. Strange beat D. Graham 9—7; W. Carthew beat Drew 9—C; G. Gould beat McGregor 9—2 ; Sinclair lost to Fraser 5—9. Combined Doubles.—Gould and Carthew beat McGregor and Fraser 9—o; Strange and Sinclair beat Graham and Drew 9—l. Feilding players are mentioned first in each case.
