TRAM CAR ACCIDENT.

EX-MOTORMAN TO THE RESCUE. Per Press Association. Auckland, December 9. As an electric tram was ascending Wellosley street, Auckland, on Saturday evening flames suddenly burst out inside the car. The motorman had one arm badly scorched and was thrown off tlio platform. Tho shock to the passengers was considerable as tho seats suddenly bocanio alive and the car was lit up with flashing blue lights emitted from all tho ironwork. The controller blow out and the fuel box caught firo. Half-a-tlozon passengers jumped out. Tho tram was running back on a down grado at a good speed when an ex-niotorman jumped aboard, pullod tho trolley polo off tho wire aud stopped the car.
