BOGUS COUNT.

Georgo Kremer, of Leipsic, Germany, who has been cutting a wide swath in New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, St. Louis, and nearly every large city in the country as "Count Bergheim, son of the Margrave of Wittegenstein',' was arrested at Baltimore on September 20th on the charge of passing bogus cheques. The police say Kremer has admitted having worked bogus cheques in many cities. '' You Americans,'' they say he said, "are so easy to swindle by a man who tacks a title to his name that it seems a shame not to get your money," and the " Count,' • who is 27 years old, slight of figure, rather aristocratic looking, and who wears gold-rimmed eye-glasses, laughed heartily. Letters found on Kremer indicated that he had been having> good time in New York. One of these communications was from a photograph company begging the "Count von Bergheim" .to'sit for a picture, and assuring him that the photographs would not be used in any manner that would offend his dignity. A letter from a leading automobile concern in New York was found in the "Count's" pockets, begging the "Count" to take a ride in one of their machines, and trusting that if the machine proved satisfactory it might "receive an order from your Highness." The "Count" took the ride and promised an order for half a dozen machines. I
