METHODIST SYNOD.

The Wangaimi District Methodist Synod opened its scission at Palmoretou yesterday. The following ministers aud laymen are attending the synod:—Revs. T. G. Brooke (chairman), J. J. Lewis superintendent of the circuit), \V. Oannell, D. McNiooll* T. G. Carr, T. G: Hammond, J. W. Worboys, S. J. Gibson, J. G. Chapman, P. T. Read, C. E. Beecroft, H. Beggs, W. S. Bowie, W. J. Oxbrow, E: D. Patchett, W. J. Reod, F. Copoland, W. H. E. Abbey, W. B. Sootfc, H. A. G. Kock, and R. T. P. Haddon (Maori Missionary), Mossrs J. H. White, J. B. Beeche, IP. Martin, and C. L. Carr (Homo Missionaries), with Mossrs Carter, T. West, G. Poarce, R.Gibson, J. H. Frethy, E. Dixon, Hilder, Darvill, S. G. Burgess, J. W. Boon, Barraclough, McOlymont, and others (Lay Representatives), and Mr W. T. Bowater (District Registrar of Church Properties). 111-health debars the Rev G. S. Harper from taking his seat in*the Synod. Yesterday was devoted to a convention in Broad strcot Church for the deoponing of tho spiritual life, after which the Sacrament of tho Lord's Supper was administered. On the motion of the Rev. J. J. Lewis the following resolution was unanimously passed :—The ministers and homo missionaries attending the Wanganui District Synod rejoice that the Rev. James" Flanagan is holding missions in New Zealand, and that God is so graciously sotting His soal to His ministry. Wo can assure him and our Primitive Methodist brethren of our deep sympathy, earnest prayers, and heartfelt co-operation in the great work of winning the world for Christ. Tho business of tho Synod commences this morning at the Congregational Church, kindly lent for the occasion. A conversazione will bo hold in tiio Opera'House to-night.
