FEILDING RACES. SECOND DAY. The concluding (lav' of Poilding Jockey Club’s Spring Meeting was favoured with fine weather, large fields and good sport. In the last race a muddle tool place which caused some annoyance to patrons of the totalisator. Tin nominations received for the Haci Scurry totalled 31, which were pui in the book unnumbered. Eight o. these were withdrawn leaving 31 horses to go to the post. The totalisator arranged its numbers in sequence after taking out the names of the eight horses not running. When the 23 boys went to scale they were given saddle-cloths corresponding with numbers 1 to 31, numbered straight through. The first horse withdrawn was number 4 and the machine made tho next horse that number. Then number 7 was withdrawn which put the next six starters back two numbers. Then number 14 was out and the next six horses were each three numbers back on tho machine, aud so on. The mistake was discovered some time before the race started but too late to rectify as there was already a considerable sum on the machine. Mr Hartgill, the judge personally ] checked everyone of the 33 boys who came to scale to make quite sure they were wearing their right colors. When the race had boon run Mr Hartgill put up tho saddle cloth numbers carried by the first throe horses past tho post. They were : 10, 8, 3. Tlio trouble soon started.
