Received Novombor 80, 8.40 a.m. London, November 29. * In the cases involving the liability of Commonwealth-officials to pay income tax, the Privy Council was petitioned direct by Victoria and New South Wales for leava to appeal against the decision of the High Court which hold that federal officers' salaries were not liable to taxation by the States. The Judicial Committee refusod leave to appeal without calling on counsel for the Commonwealth. No order was madeas to costs; ' Their Lordships will give reasons later.
