The following awards have been made by the Royal Humane Society: —Rangi Norman, a schoolboy, 13, and Ereti "Pahura, a Maori, for attempting to rescue a Maori girl from .--"Owning aj Papawai, -near Cj-rey, town N?rti., ni■■«•!»j medal • Maria Fame McFarlane, ■.-. rescuing a man named Charles Grigsby from drowning at lOwjtahi in January last, a silver medal i Edward Haughey, aged 16, for reacuinp a girl named Liilan Jane Fisher from drowning near the Barbadoes street bridge, Christchurch on December 10th 1006, a letter of commendation ; George Edgar, dairyman of Lytteltou for rescuing a schoolboy named John Fitzsirnmons from drowning in Lytteltou harbor on December 16th IUU6 a letter of commendatiop ; Selwyn 'Thomas; Ellingham, 15, for rescuing two boys named R. J. Dowsing and C. H, Dowsing from drowning at Auckland on March 28th, a bronze medal; Clarence Sheridan, 15, of Blenheim for rescuing a lad named Wililam Hall from drowning on October 2nd, 15)07, a-broiike uedal; Henry William Schwass, a railway servant lor re=euiug a girl named Selina BiSr hop from drowning at Nolson op Jauuarv 16th, 1907. a certiorate; John Alexander Oorric, for rescuing a boy named James Sullivan from drowninr at Lytteltou on September. 17th'. 1007, a commendation; Miss Joan Donaldson, Matron of. the Waltham Orphanage, Christchurch, lor re«cning a number of children from fire ou October oth, 15)06, a gold medal.
