A COMPENSATION CASE.
IMPORTANT JUDGMENT. Per P ross Association. Wellington, Nov. 31. ~ Mr Justice Cooper to-day delivered ■judgment in the Supreme Court in tile case of Weir y. Wellington Electric Lighting Coy. A man named Oorfiold, working for Woir, was electrocuted through touching a live wire which the load on a lorry he was driving at Miramar had brought to the ground. Woir had paid Corlield’s dependants. £lO3 Ills as compensation for Ills death under the "Workers' Compensation Act, and brought an action to bo hKißi"” 1 -"' 1 ' 1 i'uu company. His Honor gave judgment for Weir, boiug of opinion that tho wire which before tho accident was 10 or It feet above the level of tho road, was not sufficiently high for a dangerous wire.
