BRITISH POLITICS.
Press A ssociation. —Copyright. Received November 20, 10.43 p.m. London, November 20. Lord Milner, speaking at Rugby, said that while all were for tolerance where there were different unionists’ views on the fiscal policy, he was totally opposed to any compromise on principle. There was far less danger in democracy being misled on domestic than on foreign or imperial questions. A mistake in domestic policy was rapidly felt and remedied, but the electorates were less familiar with interests abroad, and the consequences of a mistake did not recoil so directly and unmistakably. The unionists wore not a class but a national party. Why not Unionist labour, equally with Radical labour commoners?
