There is good demand for all lam o considering the lateness of the season. Canterbury 5%d, other than •Canterbury 51^1. The beef market is dull ami supplies of River Plate arc heavy. Hind-quarters 3Qdv foro-quarters 2%d. „ , , The butter market is firm and demand good 1 in anticipation of small .arrivals for some time, although buyers are holding hack expecting prices to go lower. Choicest New Zealand 118 s, Australian 117 s, Argentine 117 s, Danish 12:25, Siberian 110 s. The cheese market is quiet, with less demand. ~Canadian manufactures average G2s, per cwt. The (hemp market is qmeu and prices irregular as the demand is principally speculative. New Zealand good fair on spot is quoted at £3O. Fair in the same position £2B 10s, both quotations being nominal as nothing is offering hero. JanuaryMarch shipments are quoted: Good fair grade £2B 10s, fair £27. Fair -current Manila, of which a largo supply is expected, is quoted at £2O 10s. , . The cocksfoot seed market is quiet and buyers are not keen to do business. Prices are firm at 75s per cwt. The supplies from the River Plato for October 1007 are as Mutton; Loudon 57,533, Liverpool ■162,700, Hull 7,317, Newcastle 7,080, Southampton 3,297, Cardiff 3,100, Ireland 000, total 750,827; lamb; Liverpool 317. Although cattle on the whole wore somewhat easier, wo sold out all the various pens of mixed cattle, with the exception of two pons of 3 year steers. Only a few sheep i'camo forward. Competition was keen and prices showed a marked improvement on last sales. Figs: Woauors 10s to 13s Gd, slips 14s to 15s, small porkers 17s, good porkors'23s to 30s, sows 50s, to C2s. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd.,,report on their first wool sale of the season, {held at Welliutgon, AS follows :—Tlie total offering com- ■ prised about 1500 bales, and there was a good attendance of buyers. Our catalogue was small owing to the lateness of the season. Bidding was slow from the start, and a very • small proportion of the wool offered wrfu sold. Owners have not yet .realised that wool has receded in
