Stncky, 1, In Holsteius, Messrs Donald aud Sous, Wanganui, swept the hoard, as also did Mr G. F. Moore in fat stock. In Aryshircs, Mr W. P. Harro, Rata, was the principal winner with tla-c-o firsts. In the Southdowus, owe championship was allotted in error previously to Mr E. Short’s entry IS months and under, but not being eligible under' tho association's rules/-t-bia championship was finally awarded to S. R. In all the five classes, P. Moore, Wanganui, had a walk-over. Flock sheep.—J. IT. Corrigan, J. Donald, Wanganui, Arthur Harding, Ashurst, were successful, tho last having two Romney classes to himself.
■ In fat sheep competition was very weak, J. J. Taylor, Wanganui', almost scooping tho pool. PIGS. Another extremely weak class, a total of nine only being penned. No Yorkshires came. forward. Slack Bros., Palmerston North, were awarded Ist for hoar over six and under 13 mouths, and Ist and champion prizes for breeding sow in pig, Ist fob sow oyer six and iinder 13 mouths; also for sow over six and under 13 mouths, DOGS.
The Mauawatu fanciers were fairly strongly represented. A. O. Haycock, Palmerston North, won open class for St. Bernards. W. J. Davis, Palmerston North, secured Ist with Strike-a-Light in the open class, Irish Setters. In Collies, Mrs W. A. Keuuell’s, Palmerston North, dog Rawa secured Ist prize iu both maiden and novice. Mrs J. G. Hankins, of Levin, won both iu open and colonial dogs with Roslyu Regal. In-wire-haired Pox Terriers, W. F, O’,Donnell, Palmerston,'took Ist fpi puppy under a year with Madcley Dick, the same dog winning in the open class. G. P. D. Watson, Palmerston North, secured Ist prize for bitch iu the open iu the same class. In bulldogs, P. E. Watson, practically scooped the pool with poppies Wharokakl and Soukai\ bitches under a year, Wharokaki and Doss; open dogs, Greenstone ; open bitches, Lubra. COMPETITIONS.
Leaping, steeplechase stylo.—-W. Howard Booth’s Hikoraugi, by Tattler ■—Nauakia mare (Mr G. McKenzie), 1; J. H. McNiveu’sPickpocket, by Uucas (Mr J. Coombo), 2; Mr H.' Boulton’s Alpine, by Armourer Jessie (owner) 3. Also started ; Sammy, Griselda, Tiptoes, Watershed!, Laatefos, Bushy Park, Piriaka, Seuorita. The jumping, with the exception of the placed horses and Sammy, Piriaka and Seuorita, was very mediocre. These were sent a second time. Pickpocket, Alpine, Hikoraugi and Seuorita finally tried out with the above result. Hiko-i-angi fully deserved the honors of first place. Ladies’ leaping competition.—W. Howard Booth’s Hikoraugi, (Miss Jessie Campbell), 1; J. H. Boulton’s Alpine (Miss Maggie Briggs), 2; J. W. Odger’s Bill (Miss Abbott), 3. Also started: Griselda (Miss Smith), Steeplejack (Mrs A. R. Bryce), Eriu-go-Bragh (Miss Ferguson), Fifii (Miss Briggs), Cinders (Miss Ferguson), Laatefos (Miss Abbott), Rawhiti (Miss Briggs) Scout (Miss Green), Seuorita (Miss Ferguson). On completion of once round, Griselda, Enmgo‘. : Bragh, Fifi, Alpine, Bill, Hikoraugi and Seuorita were given another go, ■ when the judge gave his decision ag above, .Special prices in this contest for the best rider of reform dress was awarded, Ist to Miss Maggie Briggs, of Mauaia, who rode the pony Rawhiti bare-back, Miss Abbott, of Auckland, 2nd. Best gentleman rider, without saddle.—Master Alick Gordon 1, Mr J. Campbell 3, Mr Alick Mitchel 3. Pony leaping.—R. A- Burnett’s Lady Leo 1, Arthur Piper's Pasha a, James Campbell’s Pickpocket 11. 3. Nineteen starters in all, a good many of whom balked. Tiie above three and Rawhiti all jumped cleverly. Pony race, under 14.3, four furlougs.—W. R. Storey’s Dolly Gray 1, J. and A. McCandlish’s Donald Dinuie 3. H. \V. Harris’s - Lady Dauphin 3. There wore close on 30 starters. Dolly Gray shot out at tho start and won all the way. Time, Glsecs.
